Algeria does not subject itself vis-a-vis the European Union to respect the trade agreements in a forced way

Brussels worries about the decision taken by the Algerian government to freeze the importation of several products, including one large part coming from the EU.

Minister of Economy Algerian Saïd Djellab, has held to react of manner sharp with pressures that tries to exert Brussels on Algeria, after the latter decided to freeze the imports of several products, including one great number coming from European Union (EU), its first business partner.

Algeria negotiates with the European Union within the framework of the partnership which links the two parts, and does not receive orders of its share, the minister, Saïd Djellab quoted by ObservAlgerie declared, before adding: Algeria does not subject itself to any part, and does not consult anybody with an aim of obeying its orders.

Algeria continues to inform the EU of her decisions and to negotiate with it, Saïd Djellab however specified that Brussels was not authorized to give orders to the Algerian government. These remarks of a rare firmness testify to the crispation of the relations between Algeria and the EU, the economic agreement and commercial bench.

The police chief European in the Trade, Cécilia Malmstrom, had held to specify that: Algeria does not respect its trade agreements with the European Union, she had estimated on April 11th, whereas a European delegation was to go to Algiers to find a compromise solution between the two parts.

Algeria multiplies measurements in order to try to rebalance its trade balance and installation a list of approximately 1,000 products whose importation must be cold is part of the measures taken by the government to try to rectify this situation.
