Cirque de Paname: “The world of Jalèya”

Cirque de Paname moved to the heart of ParisLongchamps Hippodrome on November 14, 2019 and will remain there until February 23, 2020 for 120 performances.

Under a marquee of over 5,500 m², the show “Le Monde de Jalèya” is presented to the public to the delight of young and old. The Dome is made up of a hall with 2,500 seats over 180 ° fitted with high-quality technical equipment and a reception area with cloakrooms, a concierge, catering areas, bars, private lounges and a scenic space without forgetting the parking, which makes this place an ideal place for private or professional events.

Cirque de Paname is the story of young French artists and creatives, lovers of the living arts wishing to put a know-how acquired for more than 20 years at the service of French spectacle for all. For 6 years, the teams have been working on developing an extraordinary show combining circus, music, innovation and technology. It is after 3 years of hard work that they present their first show, “Le Monde de Jalèya”, a fantastic adventure immersed in the imagination.

This show enters the domain of “Made in France” dear to the heart of its designers ranging from the founder and the composition of the troupe, from musicians to designers and craftsmen involved in the creation of costumes and sets … We find in this team provides quality, refinement and French-style requirements for all trades. In total, nearly 70 creative and experienced artists and technicians, some of whom have participated in the biggest shows of recent years, in France and abroad, 14 acrobats, 10 dancers, 4 live musicians, 2 singers and 3 actors.

Based on an idea by Ludovic Marcato, a former technician and frequent traveler by profession, “Le Monde de Jalèya is a mixture of musical comedy and fantastic creation combining contemporary circus, dance, music and immersive technologies (odorama, video projections, sound spatialization …). The show takes us on a poetic and imaginary journey to fabulous territories where creatures and divine beauties meet at the bend of an encounter with a unicorn (Its creation required 2 months of work, 3000 hours of 3D prints, 36 kg of filament, with 9 printers and tens of meters of tube).

In this first creation, nothing was left to chance. In terms of costumes, Sylvain Rigault became a stylist again after a stint as a dancer and performer in the aerial sphere and the creation of “l’Atelier du Rêveur” which made it possible to make the costumes for “Robin Hood: the legend almost, and to participate in the parade of the Mondial de la Coiffure 2015. For the World of Jalèya, he collaborated with Ludovic Marcato for the creation of 200 costumes inspired by the nature of fantastic universes but also of Haute Couture in extravagant and baroque styles.

The hairstyles and wigs (A&R creation: Audrey Lorca and Raphael Perrier) but also the makeup (Julie Hugues) are made by big names having participated in other musical shows. The choreographies are regulated by Julie Spiesser and her international experience and Skorpion (world champion of hip-hop and finalist of “France has an incredible talent). The acrobatic numbers were designed by Yoann Benhamou (former international gymnasium) and Julien Seijo (Cirque du Soleil …). The music was entrusted to Anthony Giordano (music imbued with images, space and colors) and John Dada (creator for theater, dance and films), they are accompanied by singer Tatiana Marte and singer-songwriter Ayvin; the sound design is by Arnaud Bayssat and Grégory Carlet, partners since 2014 to offer technical and artistic solutions to the shows. Albin Rosa and Thomas Besson take care of the design video-mapping thanks to their company D / Lab, which has produced visual creations for the performing arts for over ten years. Finally, Roman Labat is in the light design.

Creator of the phantasmagoria company specializing in human flight and aerial choreography, Yves Barta who brought his signature to many musicals (Dracula, Robin des Bois …) as well as to the last Lido show (takeoff of the chandelier) the magic of the Dome show.

The story of this tale is that of a curious, dreamy young man Oliver Wynd, who after discovering in an attic trunk, an oil lamp with mysterious powers leaves to explore the World of Jalèya, Mother Earth of the Elements of the nature. Accompanied by the Knosios guide, he will cross fantastic territories populated by creatures that live there. He will have to travel through the kingdoms of the elements of nature: Terrëa, Fyrön, Eaulus and Airya to get out. There he will meet the enigmatic goddess Merya as beautiful as she is cold, embodying each element in the kingdoms crossed by imposing respect on all.

A few words about the company “Cirque de Paname”, producer and creator of the show “Le Monde de Jayèla”.

-Executive producer of Cirque de Paname and President of CDP Entertaitment, Thibert Abid collaborated with Disneyland Paris teams at the start of his career in the 2000s. We then find him for the HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco’s ceremonies (2005), animations in video mapping on the Statue of Liberty (2006), Shakira’s concert during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Since 2015, he has been a consultant executive producer for the development and production of shows at Disneyland Paris. Today, thanks to his 20 years of experience, he is in charge of his production and devotes himself to his new show.

-Creator of Cirque de Paname and director of Le Monde de Jalèya, Ludovic Marcato first participated in the organization and touring of events. From 2010, he collaborated in several musicals (“Mozart, the rock opera”, “Dracula”, “Love stronger than death”, “1789, Les Amants de la Bastille”, and “Mugler Follie” s He then worked for Cirque du Soleil. In France and Canada, he then contributed to “Résiste”, “Grease le musical”, and “Saturday Night Fever”. He then returned to France, wishing to bring together the young talents and friends he met on his way to set up his company and his first show “The World of Jalèya” which inspires Ophélie Pemmarty his 7th novel, “In the world of Olivier Wynd” in collaboration with Ludovic Marcato.

-The interpreters of the main roles are Alexandre Faitrouni (Oliver), an enchanting Monsieur Loyal; the dancer for contemporary companies and actor in advertising, Sébastien Sfedj (Knosios); model dancer and acrobat Aurélie Giboire (Mërya) who has worked for more than 10 years with choreographers such as Kamel Ouali or Marjorie Ascione … and Alexander Wood (Oliver’s voice and singer).

The performances are ensured by the Slackline Duo, the Trio on the aerial mast, the Waz’O duo on the fixed trapeze, Julie Demont in the aerial sphere, Yoann Benhamou with the Bungee strap, Thibault Gassmann in stick and acroTricking manipulation, Cirque La Board and mast company and dancers Acro and Backup, Charlotte Sumian and Robbie Curtis.

The show is open to all audiences, including the visually impaired thanks to new technological processes (audio description transmitted by headset concerning the staging, the sets, the costumes, the actors and their movements), Braille booklet and system of magnetic loop for the hearing impaired.

For the moment, no tour planned but a return next year to the ParisLongchamp racecourse.
