The Museum of Decorative Arts celebrates the strong moments of the history of Japan, since the end of the 19th century, through a presentation of “Japonismes 2018, the hearts in resonance”.
This event which pays homage to Japan, makes it possible to admire nearly 1400 works of art of a large variety in a scenography deployed on three levels and presented in five topics:
them actors of the discovery, through the World Fairs of Paris windows of the occidentalized countries, offering special occasions to present to the visitors know–how Japanese art. The exchanges with the occident appear with the advent of the era of Meiji (1868–1912), period which symbolizes the beginning of a device of modernization of Japan.
it time, thanks to the four seasons rate whose celebration puts rhythm into the daily life like the festivals related to the religion Shinto or Buddhist and also the traditional life such as the ceremonies of the tea, of the incense, penmanship.
it movement, by means of the shows like the ritual dance, the theatre, the circus, masks and costumes which make it possible to interpret scenic variations.
– The innovation, in Japanese art makes it possible to discover ceramics novel methods, lacquers or alloys, according to the way in which the craftsman and the artist think and imagine his trade.
it natural, with the bamboo, water lily, butterfly, peacock…, the floral one, the plant are inexhaustible principles of inspiration for the creation of objects and textiles which appear in the fashion by reasons and cuts flat like the kimonos.
The old objects mix with Japanese contemporary creations. The collection has the splendour of the impassioned collectors. Exceptional loans come from Japan come to enrich this presentation.
