Geneviève Morissette: a “rebel” who has sacred fire

It’s a voice from Quebec. Geneviève Morissette is a somewhat ubiquitous singer; an electric mixture between the madness and the extravagance of Diane Dufresne, the texts of Linda Lemay and Robert Charlebois and the sensitivity of Ginette Reno.

Four years ago, it was in France that the sparkling redhead decided to settle down. And it worked for him. Singing has always been in her. Expressing yourself in this way has become an emergency. His first Album “Me V’là” was very well received. To be there, “La Morissette” is there. Since leaving Chicoutimi, she has made her place, has been able to seduce the French-speaking public, to make her “her lover” to better weave a fusional bond with him.

In April 2018, the Quebec revelation was unleashed and revealed during an exceptional evening at the Olympia, where she shared the stage with the imitator Thierry Garcia in front of a packed house, amused and conquered by his passion, his overflowing enthusiasm, his authenticity and its punk rock universe.

Success smiles on him. His work and persistence pay off. His work, considered as radiant within the Francophonie, as before it, that of Sacha Guitry, Marcel Pagnol and Line Renaud, was awarded by the Academic society of Arts, Sciences and Letters of Paris; a first victory over the pessimists who told him that it was not going to be possible. Her second success will be, as she sang, to “go to Michel Drucker’s place to sing her blues on her big red couch”; the dream for any Canadian singer.

Since then, motivated and determined more than ever, she never lets go and worked on her second album. Result? More pop sounds through which the flamboyant Quebecois addresses very current subjects such as hypocrisy, the importance of the image, the place of women and others more personal linked to her new Parisian life.

Until we can find out next fall, an extract is already available on Muzicenter. “Rebel” sounds like a no-brainer. A whole and natural woman with a fiery temper, Geneviève Morissette fights for her ideal, her difference and claims loud and clear that we will not influence her. “I will not follow a model, even if the road is cruel, I will remain faithful” So, a word to the wise. And as of June, it will be through a tour in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Quebec that the “new nugget of Quebec song” according to Télérama, “will shout his life” and his emotions.
