Hermine de Clermont-Tonnerre: a princess in paradise

Born in 1966 in Boulogne Billancourt in a large family of French nobility, Marie-Hermine Antoinette de Clermont Tonnerre was a figure of world life.

She grew up in the family castle between a father colonel at the paras and a strict mother, an emeritus cavalier. She studied at a boarding school before joining the Christian Dior fashion house at the age of 22, as a designer. She meets many celebrities and makes an impressive address book, which led her a few years later to create her own communication agency dedicated to events. Thanks to her gift for public relations, her increased knowledge of gotha, she is found in fashionable evenings where the whole jet-set is busy to attend, although she is not an aristocrat like the others, preferring to smoke cigar, tattoo and spinning on large cylinders.

Hermine de Clermont Tonnerre is also the author of several books: Politeness requires: “The knowledge to live today” (1996), “One day my prince will come but where, when, how?: Know how to love” (2001), “Politeness obliges:how to live in the twenty-first century (2003), “My prince came: for a time, for a long time, or forever? (2005), “Art and the Way of Marriage Speech (2009), “Know-how in the 21st Century” (2015). Moreover, she prefaced “How I became a superworld: Rallyes, world bootin, Debs ball… The secret route of the pros of the “incruste” by Éric Bonnet.  His works are inspired by the changing mores while respecting politeness in both the clothing and the way in which new means of communication (Internet, social networks, mobile phones…) are received and used.

She also made a name for herself on television during the election of Miss France 2003 as a juror; she then participates in reality television shows including “Fear Factor” in 2004 and “La Ferme Celebrities” in 2010, alongside Brigitte Nielsen, Jeane Manson and Aldo Maccione.

In 2009, she participated with Valérie Benaim at the 10th Rallye des Princesses aboard a blue panhard from Place Vendôme in Paris to Cannes.

In 1999, she married a British financier, Alastair Cuddeford, with whom she had 2 children: Allegra and Calixte, now 17 and 15 years old, but the couple split and divorce in 2009 despite this, the banker will remain the great love of Hermine’s life. Although he is also part of the jet-set, this man was quite discreet despite a few appearances during charity shows, fashion shows or the Cannes Festival in 2004.

On June 1, 2008, while celebrating with friends the deconstruction, the “Princess” was the victim of a serious motorcycle accident. In the coma, his state of health was worrying and his life prognosis was on.  All his friends sent messages of support and prayed for his recovery. Her ex-husband, who was at her bedside, gave hope on June 21 when she announced that the princess had opened her eyes for a brief moment. Jean-Luc Lahaye, a close friend but also a motorcyclist, said the accident was very serious. Similarly, Pierre Jean Chalençon and Françoise Laborde were very anxious asking him to stand firm. Unfortunately, Hermine de Clermont Tonnerre died on July 3 at 10:45 a.m. at the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital surrounded by his family, at the age of 54. To honor her memory, her entourage plans to hold a big party in September as she would have liked.
