International Animal Rights Day

December 10th is the International Animal Rights Day (JIDA), celebrated each year by animal rights groups.

The date of this day coincides with that of the celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted on December 10, 1948 by the General Assembly of the United Nations. It represents universal values ​​and a common ideal to be achieved by all peoples and by all nations, establishing the equality in dignity and worth of all human beings regardless of their political opinions, their origins, their religions and their sex.

JIDA was initiated by the British organization Uncaged Campaigns, International Animal Rights Day (IARD) to promote the way to create a true Universal Declaration of Animal Rights.

This is an opportunity to demonstrate to recognize the fundamental rights of animals (right to life, freedom and natural fulfillment) and to denounce abuse, torture and “assassination” … just as hypocrisy towards these helpless beings. right to life, liberty and natural fulfillment.

The purpose of this day is to focus on the use of animals in research laboratories and launch the debate on different alternatives to test new remedies without sacrificing the lives of living beings?

Animals, which have long been considered as objects from a legal point of view, have a new status since 2000 according to the rural and fishing code which recognizes all animals as sensitive beings.
Since 2015, the Animal Code has incorporated the current legislation relating to animals. Despite this legislative existence, laws are not always enforced, and many animals do not enjoy the respect they deserve.

Anyone who causes the death or willful injury of a domestic animal or who is ill-treated against it is liable to prosecution. However, laboratory or farm animals do not benefit from the same laws.

It is also a question of returning to the means of killing slaughter animals and changing our consumption habits and their impact on animals, by trying to use and consume products that have not been tested on animals or animals.

Vegans, associations against vivisection, followers of the days without meat or against the wearing of the fur, all the opponents to the hunt with the hunt or the presence of the animals in the circuses and the zoos, are mobilized on this day around the world as part of the 21st edition of the International Day for Animal Rights. The event will take place on 21 December in Lyon at the call of International Campaigns – Lyon and Ligue Française Against Vivisection

During this campaign day, candles are lit in jars at dusk to catch the attention of passersby.
