Two dead and four injured in the deadly fire in Paris (75011)

Firefighter intervention

The firefighters intervened after a call warning of a fire on the 5th floor of the Haussmann building. The causes of the fire are still uncertain. We are waiting for the results of the expertise of the central laboratory of the police headquarters sent on site.

Rescue of victims

The fire started in an apartment of around 100 square meters located on the 5th floor. As soon as they arrived, the firefighters immediately took charge of the 2 occupants, one of whom was at the window (according to the statements of Captain Florent Lointier, communications officer at the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP). are only slightly injured.

On the top floor, 6th and last floor, the firefighters discovered 4 inanimate people, in cardiopulmonary arrest following strong inhalations of smoke. Despite their best efforts, 2 of the victims died and the other 2 are in critical condition.

There were no less than 70 firefighters and a large scale, at the height of the fire, to fight the flames, smoke and hot gases.

Support for victims

An advanced medical post made it possible to take care of the victims. François Vauglin, mayor of the 11th century requested the evacuation of 32 inhabitants to the police station and the town hall.

In addition, the BSSP has set up a major rescue system, boulevard Voltaire (Paris 11th), in order to facilitate the rescue efforts. It was recommended to avoid the area.

Boulevard Voltaire was closed until the rubble was cleared. The stripping of the places affected by the fire made it possible to prevent any resumption of fire.

Investigation

The prosecution asked to open an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this deadly fire. The judicial police and the central laboratory of the police headquarters, present on site, will have to seek the identity and the causes of the death of the victims. The 2nd Judicial Police District (2nd DPJ) is in charge of investigations.
