After international artists, EPSAA is re-coloring Paris with its posters

“Mika gives color to the city of Paris”

The first project, “Mika gives colors to the city of Paris”, started on March 3. Mika had gathered 9 international artists and designers around him to revive culture in Paris. The inspiration was “Belle Epoque” and the emblematic Parisian places. Mika and her sister Yasmine carried out this exhibition in the streets of Paris for a fortnight. They collaborated with the city of Paris, the Museum of Modern Art and JC Decaux street furniture.

The artists chosen: Aurélia Durand, Laurindo Feliciano, Annick Kamgang, Marie Mohanna, by Lamia Ziade, Alexandre Benjamin Navet, Lamarche-Ovize, Rosa Maria Unda Souki, Ugo Gattoni but also the singer and his sister Yasmine. The works were on flag poles, Morris columns, bus shelters and other communication spaces in the capital.

“Fluctuat NEC mergitur”

For the second part of the project, “Fluctuat nec Mergitur”, Mika collaborated with the Higher Professional School of Graphic Arts. EPSAA is a public establishment of the city of Paris. One of his students, Hugo Gattoni was already part of the first selection.

Graduated in 2010, Hugo Gattoni is now artistic director and illustrator. He has worked for Conde Nast, Hermes, The Museum of London, New York Times, Nike, Nissan, Ruinart and Rolex.

The theme of this open-air exhibition is that of the Paris motto: “Fluctuat Nec Mergitur”. On the posters, they were to pay tribute to the strength and resilience of Paris and its inhabitants. Mika selected 10 posters among the more than 100 produced.

Since March 24, passers-by can discover the 10 new creations on the #MUI advertising displays in the capital. JustineChapelle, LeaStiff, ChiaradellaCorte, ShoshanaBaltyde, Filipa de Sousa, Juliette Nauche, Lola Belloni, Cécile Arioli, are among the chosen talents.

What is EPSAA?

EPSAA is a public school in the City of Paris, located at the carnation factory in Ivry-sur-Seine. Integrated into the Attractiveness and Employment Department, it has developed a “by doing” pedagogy. The establishment fully offers training in visual communication and integration into professional life.

Tuition fees and social security

The annual tuition fee is 440 euros.
Students benefit from “student social security” and CROUS works.

Scholarships

EPSAA can receive state scholarships.
EPSAA students can, according to national scholarship criteria, benefit from higher education scholarships from the City of Paris.

The Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) allows candidates already integrated into the professional world to obtain a diploma. He values ​​their years of experience and makes a very valuable assessment of their skills. It is necessary to prove a minimum of one year of full or part-time practice (continuous or not), of a salaried, self-employed or voluntary activity directly related to the content of the title.

The candidate must have creative talents, a solid culture of image and typography. He must also have a research and classification method, project management skills. He builds his creation from the design stage and in all phases of development.

The level 7 certification issued by EPSAA attests to the skills required to claim a level of responsibility.

Preparatory workshops

Practical tests and individual interview to access it; presentation of a personal work file for Bac level students.

These workshops prepare candidates for competitions at the major national and regional art schools in France and Europe. The personal work dossier is often presented to the juries of the higher schools during a motivational interview. Among them are:

Graphic arts

To access it, practical tests and an individual interview are necessary. Bac level students must present a personal work file.

Thanks to this training, students have a solid foundation for entering the professional world and continuously adapting to it. The training covers the visual communication professions: artistic direction, web design, typography, photography, illustration.

The diploma is a level 7 certification (Master level). The State (Ministry of Labor, Employment and Professional Integration) certifies the 3 years of training in the Graphic Arts cycle.

During the first year (AG1), students learn to master technical know-how.

The second year (AG2) ends with a compulsory internship of at least 8 weeks in an agency. Partner companies and the alumni network make it possible to find internships.

The last year (AG3) confirms the autonomy of each student. Each year, around thirty new Artistic Directors in visual communication and multimedia enter the world of work.

Outlets: the press, advertising, design or events. Jobs: Artistic director, illustrator, graphic designer, web designer, animator of animated films, typographer, etc.

Evening classes for adults

Professionals attend evening classes for adults under the supervision of the BCMA of the City of Paris. Among them: journalists, stylists, scenographers, decorators, designers, webmaster, communications officers, illustrators, graphic designers, decorators, video editors, people looking for employment …
Each year, about fifty courses ranging from a beginner to an expert level, welcome more than 1000 listeners. These training courses promote career development, help in finding a job and preparing for certain competitive examinations.

A motivational oral examination is necessary to access it. A book must also be presented for holders of a BTS in visual communication or equivalent.

Students have classes two days a week and work in an agency the rest of the time. In addition to the courses, many professionals intervene every week with the students, in the various fields of digital media.
