The Grandes Heures de Monthléry, named at the “Historic Motoring Awards 2018”

Since 28 September, France shares its passion for cars in different different events, the next will be the Marseille-Provence Motor Show, which will take place from 2 to 5 November.

The Marseille Provence show will be held at Parc Chanot and will present more than 600 vehicles across 45 brands. It is the automobile event of the south of France not to be missed. It will take place as previously at Parc Chanot in Marseille. More than 600 vehicles distributed across 45 brands are announced, over an area of 18,000m

In Paris and its region, for more than 2 weeks, car enthusiasts were satisfied by the many events organized around the car, whether old or not.

It all started on the weekend of September 28th to 30th, when fans were able to go to the Linas Monthléry racecourse to see cars and motorbikes gathered on 8 different stages (rally, sports, old and modern). All paddocks, as well as exhibits, driving simulators and an auction were open to the public;

Another event on September 30 with the parade of 120 years, part of the Place de la Concorde to arrive Porte de Versailles; at the peak of the parade, 83,716 people were registered. This event brought together nearly 230 vehicles of varying age and was organized by the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles (FFVE), the Vincennes Association in old, the Teuf-Teuf club and the Automobile Club de France (ACF). , promoter of the first international exhibition of the automobile in the Tuileries Garden in 1898.

From October 4 to 14, the Mondial de l’Automobile and Moto held at the exhibition center, Porte de Versailles. For the first time in 30 years, the 2 shows were held at the same time. This show brought together 4 events simultaneously: Auto, Motorbike (400,000 visitors), Mobility, Technology (21,564 participants and 260 exhibitors). A test center for green vehicles was installed Place de la Concorde (more than 15,000 tests of 15 to 20 minutes made free). Throughout the fair, the historical exhibition “Mythical Routes” was a dream for visitors. The women were honored during this fair, at conferences organized around the theme, “Women in the automotive industry”, as well as at the Mondial Women evening.

However, the absence of 16 major brands has been noted: Mini, Volkswagen (European number 1), Ford, Nissan-Infiniti, Volvo, Opel, Mitsubishi as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep FCA group but also Bugatti , Mazda, Subaru and Ssangyong. The same phenomenon occurred at the 2016 show and again, the cost of the show seemed too important for some participants who preferred the one in Geneva. Manufacturers have to pay more than one million euros to participate in the Paris World Cup.

“Les Grandes Heures Automobiles” is an event created by Franz Hummel in 2015 on the Autodrome of Linas-Montlhéry in Essonne for three days end of September. An almost 90 ° ring encircles the paddoks and the various car exhibition areas.

The Monthléry autodrome is the most legendary in the world, it brings together the past with historic cars, the present with manufacturers who present their cars that test and the future with a Formula E, cars with hydrogen, electric cars but also motorcycles. That’s why the event is called “Grandes Heures de Monthléry”.

This 4th edition, which brought together 240 cars, 90 motorcycles and 19 manufacturers, was the occasion to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the victory at the Alpine World Championships.

The visitors were able to meet the drivers and approach the cars. This year, Panciatici, Alpine WEC pilot; Nato, European Le Mans Series driver with the Spanish Racing Engineering team and very young karting drivers were present, as were Jacques Cheinisse, former Alpine and Renault drivers, in rallies and circuits as well as a large part of the Musketeers (Andruet , Darniche, Piot, Nicolas and Thérier), that is 3 out of 5.

All the participants (former drivers, enthusiasts and collectors) were delighted to have fun with the possibility of driving fast, at a time when the speeds on the roads are down! We found ourselves in a race atmosphere without it being one. More and more foreigners were present, probably because of the desire of the organizers to internationalize the event.

The “Historic Motoring Awards” will be held in London on October 25 and French representatives have been chosen in the “Motorsport Event of the Year” category. These are the “Grandes Heures Automobiles” and “Le Mans Classic” which will face “Goodwood Festival of Speed”, “Lime Rock Historic Grand Prix” and “Heist Grand Prix.”

automotive side, we find the Alpine A110 to the side of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, Ferrari 488 Pista, Senna and McLaren Porsche 911 GT3RS among current cars for the title of “Performance Car of the Year”.

In the museum of the year, The National Automobile Museum is named alongside Torre Loizaga (Basque Country), Museo Nicolis (Verona, Italy), Petersen Automotive Museum (California) and the Motoring Museum Riga (Riga, Latvia ).
